School of Motion:
Expression Session

A collection of selected projects from the Expressions Session course. All animations were created using expressions, focusing on procedural workflows and automation. Designs were created in collaboration with various artists from School of Motion.

Assignment

Go Fish

A stylized dashboard interface for a fishing boat. This project uses a range of expressions to drive different UI elements and animations. A key feature is a toggle system that switches between imperial and metric units, showcasing dynamic control within the interface.

Assignment

Absolute Heroes

A flexible MOGRT template designed for easy customization. The system is built using only two keyframes, with expressions driving all animation. The setup automatically adapts to different text lengths and images, allowing for quick generation of multiple variations.

Assignment

Bar Chart

A data-driven infographic system. Using an external JSON file, the charts update dynamically based on input data. Expressions such as linear() are used to animate values, creating a scalable way to generate and animate multiple charts efficiently.

Assignment

Random Art Generator

An experimental animation driven entirely by randomness. Using the random() function, both visuals and text are selected and positioned dynamically. By changing the random seed, the entire composition updates, creating endless variations from a single setup.

Assignment

Focal Plane

A depth-focused animation of a plane flying through a mountainous landscape. This project recreates depth of field effects by calculating the distance between objects and the camera using expressions. The result simulates realistic focus shifts without relying on built-in camera blur.

Assignment

Hello World

A simple character interaction exploring the basics of expressions. This project uses functions like wiggle() and posterizeTime() to create stylized motion. The focus was on understanding how expressions can quickly bring static elements to life.
